Apple released the five colors of its mass-priced iPhone line that reflect the five feng shui elements: green (wood), white (metal), red (fire), yellow (earth), and blue (water). Does the globe’s highest grossing company follow feng shui principles?
The Chinese art of placement, feng shui harmonizes the directions and correct positioning of spaces to conform to the principles of auspiciousness and good fortune. Basic to the practice is the influence of the five cosmic elements to every human activity and aspiration.
For sure, the idea is for the iPhone buyer to choose the color of his/her unit based on the cosmic element. “Even to those who claim they don’t believe in feng shui, its practical applications are all over us in this modern world,” London-based international feng shui expert Marites Allen explains.
The Year of the Wood Horse starts on Jan. 31, 2014, yet Marites has started promoting the charmed life through feng shui three months earlier. Buzzstation met Marites recently where she announced to conduct her much-awaited annual feng shui updates in Metro Manila at the Infinity Ballroom of the F1 Hotel Manila at the Bonifacio Global City on Dec. 7. Marites has an innovation: She created the European brand Frigga fashion line based on feng shui that people can wear. It’s a fresh way of applying feng shui principles to daily living in order to attract positive energies. An application is in the auspicious fashion embodied in Frigga.
Launched in Manila, Tokyo and London last year, Frigga, from the name of the Norse god of prophesy and destiny, incorporates feng shui into its design to provide comfortable, luxurious and eye-catching clothing and accessories that cater to wearers with specific intentions.
“Every item carries a distinctive fashion DNA, making Frigga the first of its kind,” adds Marites. “It combines colors and prints, which are symbolic of various feng shui elements, to help attract auspicious energies and enhance the chances for better health, wealth, career and relationships. Call it fashion for a reason, or fashion with a purpose that goes beyond just looking good.”
Frigga’s design team, in collaboration with Marites, designed every item to conform to feng shui design principles. It is composed of Toby Meadows, the international best-selling author of How to Set Up and Run a Fashion Label; Alice Sheeve and Hannah Coniam, owners/designers of Belle & Bunty, a multi-awarded women’s wear label; and Rupert Shreeve, brand positioning/creative consultant, who has led projects for some of the world’s biggest brands.
Marites’s 2014 Annual Feng Shui Updates, to be hosted by Boy Abunda, will give forecasts for business and individuals to attract better opportunities in the Year of the Wood Horse. Participants will be treated to a fashion show featuring designs for the coming New Year and a preview of Frigga’s spring/summer collection. Tickets for the December convention are now available at all World of Feng Shui Philippines boutiques in Metro Manila or at F1 Hotel.
